I have over 10 years of experience tutoring Chinese-Mandarin to English-speaking students. I don't believe in using translation or any traditional textbook ways of teaching a foreign language, as I believe they are ineffective. I teach my students using immersion techniques and encourage them to think in the foreign language rather than thinking in their native tongue before translating it.
